Painting Ideas Using The Watercolor Salt Method

If you wish to know about the salt watercolor technique click here. If you already know all about this method then you may be in search of designs to test this method with. If so, you have come to the right place, I present you with 4 simple, beginner-friendly watercolor painting ideas.

Free-handed painting is easy, simple, and can be used in different ways. You can create abstract paintings just like you do with acrylic paints. You can create backgrounds that can be handy fo for lettering. You can use colors of your choice, just make sure to add salt for the texture. The picture above sums it all up, a simple splash of color and a sprinkle of salt can create a masterpiece!

If you are painting the ocean, then this method is perfect. It gives you the special touch it needs and the texture you get with the salt method goes perfectly with this design. You can make underwater designs, beaches, etc. If you would like to add boats, then I prefer using oil pastels to draw since they won't rub off when you are adding your watercolors.

The galaxy is yet another design that fits perfectly with the salt water technique. Making a galaxy was simple as it is, but when using this method, adds special effects to it. As you can see in the picture above, the salt texture makes the color pop out and unique! I suggest using an old toothbrush dipped in white paint to add white speckles.

Fruits are another great way to utilize this technique to its potential, any fruit you want will work with the salt method. Fruits that work the best include fruits that have a grainy texture since the salt method can help enhance the painting.

I recommend using the wet-on-wet technique for all these designs as more water will give you more effects. I hope these ideas have inspired you to create watercolor art using the salt technique. Happy Painting!
